The American Association of Orthodontists recommends an orthodontic screening at age 7. Why so early? Though most children will not receive treatment until they are older, there are some children with more severe dental conditions which benefit greatly from an early, interventional stage of orthodontics. Also, by becoming educated early, a parent can feel confident about the correct timing to get braces for their child.
