What is Phase One treatment? (Also called Stage One or Early treatment.)

While most patients are treated in one stage of treatment when all the permanent teeth are in, some children have two stages of treatment.  If necessary, phase one treatment lasts 6-18 months and is performed on children between 6 and 10 years old.  The primary objective for Phase One treatment is to address serious problems, to prevent conditions from getting worse and to improve self-image.
